Iron Man 9th June 2019- volunteers needed

Volunteer for IRONMAN Staffordshire – 9th June 2019

Staffordshire’s biggest triathlon competition is calling out for volunteers to help make the race a great success.

IRONMAN 70.3 Staffordshire is looking for volunteers and volunteer groups to help out with athlete registration, marshalling the course, assisting in transition and handing out medals and t-shirts at the finish line.

The 2019 event takes place on Sunday 9 June.

Groups of volunteers are also needed to help out at feeding stations and hand out lap bands to athletes on the running course.

Volunteers will be joining a team of over 500, including stewards, medical staff and technical officials, and have the chance to get great experience of working behind the scenes of a world-renowned event.

Last year, the competition raised hundreds of thousands for charity.

Sue Ball, who has previously volunteered at the competition in Staffordshire, said: “Volunteering at Ironman was a wonderful experience. It was great to be part of one of the UK’s most exciting sporting challenges. What I remember most about the day, apart from those amazing athletes, was just how many athletes thanked me for giving up my time and volunteering to help at the event – a truly rewarding experience.”

Philip Atkins Report for Annual Meeting – Uttoxeter Rural Report 2019

A50 update from Cllr Atkins

A50 Growth Corridor update:

Despite the recent poor weather, work completed early this year. Surfacing of the new slip roads and three roundabouts is complete. The work, which started in 2016, has seen an upgraded junction with the A522, a new bridge installed, the old one demolished and the building of three new roundabouts and slip roads.

This major piece of engineering is a huge success and will deliver many economic benefits, while also improving road safety.

Project B is in the Road investment strategy Programme for delivery by 2025.
