The A50 Growth Corridor projects are part of a multi-million pound Government investment. The completed Project A will cut congestion, improve road safety, support local businesses and create more jobs and opportunities.
We’re now a short step away from having the A50 open for use before Christmas, with all the work on the dual carriageway finished as scheduled.
Subject to the weather, this week the A50 will be closed overnight to enable completion of slip road resurfacing and the removal of temporary narrow lanes and safety barriers on the dual carriageway, as well as laying down fresh white lines.
The details are:
closed overnight westbound only on Wednesday, December 12th;
closed overnight eastbound only on Thursday, December 13th;
closed overnight in both directions Friday December 14th; Sunday, December 16th; Monday, December 17th.
Please note there will be no closure on the night of Saturday, December 15th.
All closures will be from 8pm until 5.30am and take place between the B5030 roundabout at Uttoxeter and the A521 roundabout at Blythe Bridge. Signposted diversions will be in place and the route will be the same for vehicles travelling in both directions. From the east, traffic will be diverted northwards from the A50 at Uttoxeter on to the B5030 for a few hundred yards to the roundabout with the A518. Traffic will turn right there, cross back over the A50 along The Dove Way and stay on the A518 clockwise around Uttoxeter and follow the road towards Stafford. Vehicles will then follow the A51 and A34 towards Stoke-on-Trent, before joining the A500 and then the A50 to Blythe Bridge. The route is reversed from the west.
