The Parish Council has received the following from Staffordshire County Council with regards to Carillion and the A50 project.
Project A is being delivered by Staffordshire County Council, on behalf of Highways England, to support business and unlock land for new housing and economic growth. It involves building a new bridge across the A50, building three new roundabouts, new slip roads, link roads and removing the old bridge. Highways England has been monitoring the situation for some time and has developed contingency plans to ensure the continued safe delivery of any schemes that Carillion is involved in.
Carillion’s involvement is as part of a Joint Venture partnership, with Tarmac, which manages the work on site at Uttoxeter.
We have had several detailed conversations with the Joint Venture to understand the situation and the clear intention is that work will continue as planned on this important project. For instance, the overnight carriageway closures mentioned in the previous newsletter are still scheduled for the end of this month.
We will update you again in due course, but please contact us in the meantime if you have any concerns.
Importance of the A50
The A50 is the most important transport link between the East and West Midlands. The planned improvements will also benefit major employers and their employees between Stoke-on-Trent and Derbyshire, making journeys quicker, easier and safer.
Staffordshire County Council is delivering these improvements on behalf of Highways England. We will continue to update you as the project progresses.
